GenCon Packing List

G

Next week I am embark on the two-hour drive northward to the great city of Indianapolis for GenCon 2018. I’m putting together my packing list, so I figured I’d post my GenCon Packing List here for all to peruse.

Living Essentials

I’ll bring a small gym bag with the following items:

  • Clothing for 5 days: five sets of underwear, socks, and t-shirts; two pairs of jeans; a button-up or two; and a pair of tennis shoes / flip flops
  • Toiletries: toothbrush/paste; floss; deodorant; face wash & persagel; brush & comb; contacts case and backups; contact solution; Carmex (for my fragile lips)
  • Accessories: wallet (ID/cash), phone, keys, sunglasses
  • Electronics: laptop, charger, iPhone charger, headphones, headphones charger, DSLR, battery charger, upload cable, extension cable

And, I’ll have a grocery bag with the following ingestibles:

  • Booze: couple cases of beer, handle of Tito’s & large bottle of Zing-Zang (for morning Bloody Mary), bottle of bourbon (for flask)
  • Snacks: a mish-mash of snacks to take with me on Thursday, since I’ll likely have limited time to go eat throughout the day

Lastly, to get between AirBnB and convention center:

  • Transportation: Bicycle, helmet, and lock

GAME SUPPLIES

The most important stuff for the GenCon Packing List, I’ll bring a backpack to carry around with the following items:

  • Basics: box of Ticonderoga (world’s best) pencils; pencil sharpener; dice; a notepad; post-it notes
  • Dark Tower Events: (Thursday/Friday): Astonishing Swordsmen & Sorcerers of Hyperborea manual; Dark Tower adventure; Dark Tower adventure notes & maps (buy an accordion folder to hold); three binders with AS&SH spells; four (maybe 5 for extras) copies of each pre-gen (I’m running 4 games) & sets of handouts (maps, rumors, etc.) for each game; 8 sets of declaration cards to be reused for each table; DM Screen; Scythe coins

I’ll also include some stuff from living essentials: toothbrush/paste, water bottle, flask (w/booze), etc.

This stuff I’ll bring, but probably keep at the AirBnB or slip into backpack on a day-by-day basis:

  • Games: Magic decks; Secret Hitler; Mutant Crawl Classics; six copies of The King is Dead for pickup games; two copies of Escape from Punjar in case I run it Friday/Saturday
